Method

Put substance in bucket.
Put water in jar.
Activate water.
Right click on substance in bucket, create->misc->dye color

Resulting Colors

Blue - woad
White - zinc
Green - copper

Usage

Activate Dye
Right click on item, Paint (will use 1 kg of dye)
