Quality Level
Quality is one of the most important statistics in in Wurm. It is measured in QL, Quality Level, in the inventory and in containers.
It decides how good something is and how well it works. Higher QL is better quality.

Quality in general
Higher quality decreases:
- the rate at which items are damaged by use, attack and decay
and increases:
- the general performance of the item
- the quality of the items they produce.
Quality in tools
Higher quality decreases:
- the time it takes to perform actions with the tool
and increases:
- the chance of success when creating items
- the quality level you can improve items to using the tool, where the highest ql is a combination of tool ql and your skill.
- the chance of success when continuing to build.
Quality in foods
Foods are everything from herbs and fruits to casseroles and steaks.
Higher quality decreases:
- the rate of decay (makes the food last longer in storage)
and increases:
- the amount the food will fill you if you eat it
- the final quality of the dish you are cooking, though it is capped at you cooking skill.
Quality in fires
(campfires, forges, ovens)
Higher quality decreases:
- the time it takes to heat items up.
Quality in containers
(barrels, chests, fountains)
Higher quality decreases:
- decay rate of items stored.
Quality in buildings and walls
(houses, walls, fences, gates)
Higher quality decreases:
- damage taken from decay as well as from attacks; a Ql 40 wall will take a greater punishment than a QL 10 before breaking.
