Explained using water flow.

Note: Water does not flow in Wurm but I use it flow to explain slopes.

The best way to explain slopes in digging is to think "Which way will water flow on that tile border?".

Wurms examining of the slope uses this idea to tell you how much higher or lower is one CORNER than the other.

So if a slope on all 4 side of a corner is 18 towards you and you drop water on all 4 top corners it would flow toward you at a speed of 18.

Lets say left slope is 16 away from you. So water will flow at 18 towards you and then at 16 away from you the left.

So to get a tile flat you must wake sure that water would not flow on it

So for a 20 slope away dig 20 down and a 20 slope towards you drop 20 dirt.

Note that changing 1 corner changes ALL 4 slopes around it.

This if slope is 20 towards you and 18 towards you on the left it means drop 20 dirt and go to left corner and drop 2 more.

The BEST is to play around and find what works for you. You can fix any mistake up to 3 times you Digging Skill. (so only use 3 dirt to play with in the start)

And remember even if it does not look flat, If all 4 sides of a tile is flat - ITS FLAT.

Visual guide

This is a 2 tile example of flatting to an already flat level

Arrows show "water flow".

Star means border is flat.

Example one - all slopes are 20 towards you.

Example two - Slopes differ.
