Talk:Chat commands
Idiocy
When I first typed out http://www.wurmonline.com/wiki/index.php?title=Chat_Commands&oldid=15777 I actually typed it out instead of taking my event log and modifying it...boy am I stupid. - Tigiot 20:25, 23 January 2007 (CST)
Autocomplete?
Some commands work with less than exact names. /village triggers on /v, /vi and /vi+anything. The same applies to /dev, /shout and /tell. Strange stuff. - Dashiva 20:18, 23 January 2007 (CST)
- It helps us so no worries. :D I'm sure it will change if more chat commands are introduced with those starting letters. - Tigiot 20:25, 23 January 2007 (CST)
change email
./changeemail <newemail> <password>
The password here is contrary to the intuitive choice, belonging to the character typing the command. This has something to do with verfing both potential parties involved with the transfer are ok with it. In my expereince if you have multiple characters on the email your transfering too, one of those toon's passwords works.
Event message if you don't put a password in.
- [07:21:50] You need to provide a password in case it has to be verified: /changeemail <newemail> <password>
- [07:21:50] If no account exists with the new email the password will be ignored so then you can write anything.

- I think we need a good, clear example list here, possibly in a footnote ? Malcolm
- I'd suggest something along these lines ...
- Changes the registered email address for this account.
The password needs to be supplied if the new e-mail is already being used for another Wurm account, to ensure that the owner of that email agrees to the addition of your account. If the new email already owns several accounts, any of their passwords will work.
If the new e-mail is not being used for an existing Wurm account, the password is not checked, and can be any value.
- Changes the registered email address for this account.
- Examples
- Account ADAM wants to change their e-mail to eve@eden.com, but that e-mail is already registered to account EVE. When ADAM issues the /changeemail command, they need to use EVE's logon password.
- Account CAIN wants to change their e-mail to able@eden.com, and that e-mail not registered to a Wurm account. When CAIN issues the /changeemail command, they can use any password, as it's not required in this situation.

- Examples are good. I don't fully understand it truthfully. Example, if Eve's email had Jim, Joe, and Bob associated I'm not certain which password would work. Its as if email command thinks one character's password is more important than another. All this assumes that it is not a bug. Joedobo (talk) 12:37, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
