Well I am a proud member of Aegis and have been for a little while now.

I start playing wurm at the start of gold 1 and have always lived as a hermit, but I got an invite to Aegis and thought I'd give it a go, and it has been a great experience.

Living by ones self you have to be a jack of all trades to survive. Being in a village you don't have to be a jack of all trades as things that you need can be provided for you by other members of the village. Being in the village also allows for great skill development.

One example of this is masonry which I managed to get up to 50 skill within a week or two amongst doing other things.

At the moment I have been working on chain armor smithing amongst doing small masonry jobs. If you come to Aegis which is a couple of minutes walk west of Newtown, you will find a merchant within the trader center. The merchant sells various goods including 30ql sets of chain armor for 4 silver coins, 60ql whetstones, pelts of various ql, and some other useful items.
