To raise carpentry initially the best way is building houses.
Later, the main carpentry skill can be raised by improving mallets and fishing rods.
Beyond 50 to 60, a good way to raise the main carpentry skill is to develop the subskills, ie fine carpentry, bowyery, fletching and ship building.
