Personal Profile
RomaN is the alias of a Wurm Online player. He is an avid hunter/explorer and slayer of uniques and is a regular attendee of public slaying events.
His residence (The Roman Estate) can be found in the far North East corner of Exodus.
My views on hunting
Hunting is a great way to earn money (By selling butchered hides and meats) and leveling up your fighting, weapon and shield skills which are essential to survival in wurm's many inhospitable and hazardous environments.
Before engaging a hostile, you must first understand the kind of enemy you are dealing with. If you are coming in contact with a hostile that may deal a lot of damage to you, such as a troll, scorpion or crocodile, be sure to have an escape route planned out before attacking. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Regarding weapons, armours and shields on the freedom cluster, the best combination I have found are med maul, large wooden shield and full studded leather (Drake or scale if you can afford it).
Why Medium Mauls? Because they have a high DPS and don't suffer as much penalty when striking armoured enemies such as trolls, scorpions and crocodiles.
Why large wooden shields? Large wooden shields are lighter than large metal shields and can be "field repaired" simply by cutting down a tree and re-imping it on the spot.
Why studded leather It's very light and maneuverable.
Hunting tips
- Don't mess with trolls unless you're looking for a real fight.
- Beware of the gank bonus creatures receive when they gang up on you.
- Scorpions are horrible for fighting skill gain.
- It appears that only scorpions and crocodiles will spawn on desert tiles.
- The 'refresh' ability gained from the path of love refills your stamina, thirst and hunger. It is great for emergencies.
- Consider bringing a cart and spare horse with you while hunting. The extra cart is good to carrying supplies.
- Riding a cart or boat into a fight appears to make it more difficult to target specific body parts and possibly reduces your combat rating.
- Local areas populated with animals will take up the animal cap in the area and are therefore not ideal places to hunt.

- Freedom's 1st Avatar Slayers - Was amongst the 1st and currently the only known group of fighters to take down an Avenger of Light on the Freedom Servers.
- 1st Red Dragon Slayers of Freedom Isles - After a long 2 hour fight, Roman along with many of the highest level fighters in Wurm legitimately defeated the Red Dragon. No such red dragon slaying has ever been accomplished in wurm's history. (At least not since they were severely buffed from a fighting overhaul in 2009, and a bug in 2010)
