Summary

Cndo is a player in Wurm Online. Primarily Cndo plays on PvP servers, having been a part of various battles and sieges throughout Wurm's history. He is famously known for his affinity and attraction to the Sword of Magranon, and one of the earliest users of the weapon.


The Golden Valley Starting Era

Cndo was on Golden Valley for almost a year where he learned the game, and relaxed. He started Emerald Coast with a few long forgotten friends establishing the first Guard tower in existence at the time. He spent almost a year on the server constantly developing the lands around him, later moving to Scorpion Stone. The Emerald coast was famous for its wine, one of the only items that could go past the 20ql improvement limit.

Cndo has the luxury of being one of the most famous Wurm players outside of the game. He with a friend known as "Darkdragoon" terrorized article writers Quinten Smith on his experiences through the game. The article can be found here: [1]


Wild Beginnings

Cndo joined the Horde of the Summoned after a great deal of conversation with Tiu and Daolin. There he joined Hell's Kitchen, a prominent Horde deed famous for its island tenacity. He stayed with the kingdom for a short while before heading off to Jenn-Kellon where he was tutored by the members of [Silron Valley] who would later go on to found some of the most powerful groups on Epic.


Wild

A great deal of time passed, as Cndo learned the game. He purchased Crimsonwolf from a member of Silron Valley and used it as an effective Fo weapon. He was a member of Jenn-Kellon, occasionally playing on a blacklight alt in order to prop the kingdom up against what he considered to be his lifelong enemy Mol-Rehan. Unfortunately, with the release of epic, Cndo sold the Crimsonwolf account immaturely to that very enemy dooming the kingdom he once helped protect, by leaving the character in the village. This allowed the reviled Mol-Rehan to exploit deed defense of frontline war deed.

Crimsonwolf was a champion of Fo twice on chaos under Cndo.

Epic Early

Epic was where Cndo thrived, it was a fresh start and a new chance to become someone in the constant swirl of relevancy that is Wurm Online. He started off working in tandem with Posteh and what would be known as the Legion of Lomaner, helping found the kingdom ruled by Wossoo. However destiny marches on and the Legion moved its operations to the Horde of the Summoned, another familiar identity for Cndo.

Doin' Stuff was the name, and Doing Stuff was their game, many of the same faces surrounded him from both Silron Valley as well as new faces from Lomaner. Doin' Stuff was quite dominant in the early days of Elevation, while attempting to avoid drama at every turn. Many things people take for granted today, such as Archery, Horse Maneuver, and toggle target were pioneered within the walls of the archipelago.

Cndo would be one of the first to pack his bags for the creation of a new PMK, the Mongol Empire.

The Mongol Empire

The Mongol Empire was founded, and it was good. The gods themselves revolted at its founding, knowing what would come next.

Cndo was simply one of the cogs in the machine of the Mongol Empire, he was considered in officially to be an elder, but that was not necessarily special in any regard. He was present for almost every Mongol battle, dying on occasion but living through most of it, and he played a key role in the Avarga Raid by supplying much needed Iron Fence bars.

The Mongol Empire was the first time Cndo was allowed to Hold, Use, and maintain the Artifact the Sword of Magranon.

Unfortunately the Mongol Empire had to be disbanded at the behest of Rolf, (rumor) and the understanding that they were killing the game off.

Demacia

Cndo was part of the large ex-mongol collaboration of Demacia, this is where he finally rounded out his knowledge of the game and came into his own.

Demacia was much like the Mongols, it dominated the mid game of epic, often taking advantage of the same things the mongols did, George (Jorge) the NoGump of the group. He was involved in multiple aspects of the kingdom, again serving as an elder, and focusing his time into perfecting his skills. He took part in a great many battles as before.

Epic Late Game

All good stories have to trip, stumble and fall.

With the fall of Demacia Cndo found himself at a crossroads, a great deal of his friends fled to different kingdoms causing him to be in the void. The split up of the original Mongol group can be seen today as either one of the best things, or worst that has ever happened to Wurm Online.

He worked in collaboration with many since, becoming the leader of a settlement known as The Deed, but due to its raid by Blacklight and disband, he never took the mantle of leader on epic.

Cndo worked with a new group, who he would dub "The Rustlers" in private. This group served more as griefers "putting horses in canals" than actual fighters.

New Epic

After a period of being in what was essentially limbo, Cndo again came back to the game. However circumstances, as they often do changed. The group he primarily played with was a shell of their former selves, many new players did not understand Cndo or his playstyle. But he changed as well, gone was the person who wanted to be a Lord of a Kingdom and in return came a carefree guy, more interested in provoking the enemy than actually combating them. This led to conflicts between Cndo and his former group, however he found comfort within a restored "Rustlers". Having spent more than enough time in "Worldstar" Cndo moved on to live at the location branded "Lonely Light", a deed owned by Zehive. The small island deed was located next to another, which would later be called Pyke. These two islands served as a base of operations for what was branded the "Jenn-Kellon Resistance". This resistance formed out of the evil king despot and his small council who never took the advice of Cndo and his peers. They held a tyrannical reign on Jenn-Kellon, so Cndo and the Rustlers started a Barons Rebellion of great proportions.

The Rebellion

The plan was simple, wait for the evil king and his men to go into a raid, trap and kill them. Eventually, they got their shot, as the vile king took his kingdom to Mol-Rehan. The Mol-Rehan were a peaceful people far too focused on the cultivation of Moss in their capitol deed, and had great fear of the raiders. The barons alliance informed the Mol-Rehan that they would finance their campaign against Jenn-Kellon to depose the vile king. Mol-Rehan accepted, and on behalf of their kingdom Awakening collected the 50 Silver gift. The entirety of Jenn-Kellon was killed that day, and a laughing fit the likes you have never heard was had that night in the Baron Capitol. To quote one of the Barons, "Anyone want to pvp?" - Zehive

Exile

The rebellion was halted with the mass success from Mol-Rehan and a different path was decided upon the arrival of Marquis Cubeman de Affu-lence. The members of the great committee moved on to the Roman Republic where they spent some considerable time again laughing at Jenn-Kellon. This was short lived however, as the group came under some form of sleeping sickness and disappeared into the forests of Rome in hibernation.

Return to Chaos, Gratsalot

Gratsalot The brave warriors came to a decision, and channeled their power into one force, they rose the dead and fallen of Sparta around them, joining into the ritual circle. The Scrolls hunger was sated, and the Blood Titles were granted. A voice came from the summoning circle, "What is thine kingdom called?". A small voice came from the back of the circle, the young Rottenpie said, "Grats, Gratsalot".

The End

Keeping with tradition, of the many wurm players before me I am writing this to you the community today, to announce my official retirement/end to playing Wurm Online. It has been an exciting ride that is for sure.

Entering the world of Wurm Online was truly an excellent experience that I could never get back. It was a fresh world with limitless possibilities. Where you could be anyone and make anything. I was new, and managed to make it into the game on the second day Golden Valley existed (horses were not in the game yet!). It was fresh and clean and the perfect place to cut my path. I played across both MR and JK at the time, establishing a large dominating position of wine making on the Emerald coast and with Scorpion Stone where I was responsible as an elder of the town, with people like Dode. I was always working to make the Golden Valley experience fun, giving reports on the strange new Blacklighters who appeared in the center, rowing around on my row boat, helping with canals. But I remember reading the news stories on the front page about great heroes like Daolin and Doctorchaos attacking the Mol-Rehan besiegers at Ebony Veil. I knew I wanted to be a pvper then. Around this time I actually appeared in a PC Gamer UK article about Wurm, as well as one on Rockpapershotgun, which you can still find. So arguably I am the most famous Wurm player to the public at large. Well, I packed my bags, wished Enki well (I did not understand he was a top GM back then) and off I crossed into the portal.

Ending up on Chaos was not ideal for a new player, and choosing the Horde was an even more dire position haha. But I managed to crawl my way past crocodile and spider (the player and creature) a like to make my way to Hell’s Kitchen. Mikeyyaya and OSP took good care of me as a fledgling. Giving me the tools of the trade, a 50ql chain mail set and a 67ql FA longsword. To someone who spent the majority of their time on Golden Valley I was in awe. I established a settlement in Devil’s Head, where I first met Posteh (on speedy I believe), Cubeman, and Melpy. Players who would be instrumental in my future. I learned the real game, running into many others I would interact with someday, like Mojo. No more tea and sandwiches, this was a steak and swords game now.

Never get to comfortable, a lesson you learn when playing on a pvp server. Our small settlement was attacked by Nosyt. A wake up call to be sure. My body was used in ritualistic experimentation by the local BL ladies. Back then you see children were possible, although I won’t go into the process. One day I saw an opportunity for growth, and joined Melpy on her way to Jenn-Kellon, as we were chased by Maincorpse the Champion of Libila, of the Horde. From then on, I would be a citizen of Silron Valley, one of the greatest groups of pvper’s I ever met. Led by Norad, including Mortal, Batman, Kabill, Zarwin, Fez, and eventually Posteh (when we got up to the top of the mountain), with sprinkles of the great Dragonpen as he came and went. We did vast construction projects like building towers all the way to The Horde Mountain to wage war upon the Horde. We were all exiles at that point. It was a village of hard knocks, you were taught pvp, a trial by fire.

Additionally at this time I started playing on Crimsonwolf, fighting at the battle of Ourwall, going in and out as a champion of Fo. Deed pvp was always interesting, fighting in the no man’s land and producing our own fun in between fights (dropping sand on our dirt, dirt on their sand, breeding bulls and cows). I would go in on Horton as he farwalkered away, they would go in on me as I rode off on a charmed unicorn. After those large wars I hopped around a bit between Blacklight and Jenn-Kellon, spending some time in Desolation (Mojo’s deed) which was a rip roaring good time. This period of time is where I met some great folks like Madrocks, Oreo, Kellyt, Chromie, and many more. There was something new on the horizon, Epic.

Now the bulk of my time in Wurm was on Epic, while I did okay on Chaos, Epic was my preferred home. Cndo was my name and killing you was my game. I managed to join up with the Silron crew again. We started off in the kingdom of Lomaner but realized we were not welcome by the tyrannical Wossoo. We did have some strong early success against the Horde of the Summoned, who we would later joined as the village Doin’ Stuff. But those early weeks were great, a new server full of unique’s like the Kyclops, who barreled towards Xallo and I absolutely stomping us. Or the time we were using carving knifes to throw into people’s legs to slow them down. And who can forget Madrocks falling asleep at his computer while smithing. Times were great.

I don’t want to sound cocky but. We were kind of a big deal. Doin’ Stuff was the beginning of our “epitome of success”. Despite all the gnomes that would play the Christmas song on a 24 hour basis, and the rumpus pens we had for killing one another, we were arguable one of the stronger villages in the game. At that point epic was still in its infancy, and new Kingdoms would rise, only to be torn down. Eventually I remember we decided to make our own. We really started to develop as a strong group and grew close bonds with each other. Bonds I still have to this day. But as the Horde grew we decided to form a new kingdom, the Mongol Empire.

Surely the Mongol Empire was a well thought out, intelligent decision, planned for months in advance with tons of logistical support. Well, it wasn’t. One night it was brought up we start a new PMK, I swear to you we packed up several boats and immediately set sail for where we thought it would be nice to place a Kingdom and Avarga was born. It was driven by overwhelming hype and hype alone. We tried to plan but that is not how we rolled. The Mongol Empire was arguably, the strongest, most successful PMK of all time. It had leadership that could see beyond the next week, month, or year. For as strong and powerful as a kingdom becomes, it is important to have the wisdom to know when their time has come. The Mongols reaved the coastlines, raided deeds, dominated the ground game, and beat back the largest siege in the history of Wurm, encompassing over 4 kingdoms in total. The accomplishments of the Mongol Empire genuinely deserve their own thread. If someone is interested I may make it some day but for now you only have my wiki post to go off of. But when one is successful for so long, hope extinguishes. There is a reason no one wants to play the New England Patriots, they dominate. Something had to give, and it did. (Shout out the Mongol crew, I love all y’all despite what you think Rip Jorge’ the real one).

All good things must come to an end. Avarga was shuttered, and we split into several kingdoms to rekindle Epic from the brink of death. But that is what I would call the dark times for me. The game was like eating sawdust. I missed the people I grew attached to. I think I can best describe the experience, as serving as a Military Attache. We were really nothing more than advisors to Mol-Rehan that much was evident when Hellfang became Chancellor and was asked to step down. Eventually we did reunite, and formed the Village Demacia in Jenn-Kellon. Our plan to rekindle the server succeeded and it allowed us to coalesce once more, although slightly more muted in our blatant success than before.

Pvpers’ I know and played with recently were very focused on the idea of ganks and traps. They must have seen it as the only way forward for many engagements. I found these scenarios entertaining, considering we invented the majority of them. I even remember saying at instances like Thornfield “They are on top of our mine stealthed, many we literally invented that haha”. Demacia was a place where we really refined these skills. Focusing on Traps more than anything else. We had some great folks in our community, and we once again were a dominate force, with the only real contender being the Horde. You have to keep in mind, this was a time when these things were new, everything was new! So it was such a refreshing time for pvp in its entirety. Not even the zerg meta was really well established and you had some of the best fights. But again dark day came, internal strife blew up. Over what I cannot remember and we officially split for good. People like Sme and Oreo went with Mol-Rehan me and boys like Madrocks, Jackburton, Zehive, Cubeman, went to Blacklight. People like Posteh, who led us, disappeared. It was not rock bottom, but sitting in an empty Demacia sure felt like it. Things went bad, fast. It was the first real major collapse I was a part of.

Endings are rarely happy, this is no different. From this point on we move back to Jenn-Kellon eventually, always in the fight wherever we went. My status as an elder fell through into a position with little power due to my failings at running “The Deed” which was raided by The Horde of the Summoned. Many of my original group disappeared, replaced with folks I liked but didn’t like or know me. Things picked up when we moved to JKH and started Mount Rustlemoar, and then picked up once more when Epic was reset. But at the end of the day I was in a kingdom with people who either didn’t like me, or didn’t know me. So we left, went Rome, played a little and dropped out.

During this phase the nature of my own play style changes, I went from being essentially a lord, to being and under-miner of kingdoms. Our group became really good and provoking people into conflict and any kingdom we were a part of was fairly cancerous because of that. I think there was a fair amount of spite at the situation we were dealt. Both because of how the game changed and the people playing it. But despite that short summary over the last few paragraphs that was pretty much it, the middle of my story was more impactful than my end. In actuality, I sort of fizzled out. Here and there I would get victories, like the Kingdom of Gratsalot. But overwhelmingly the games pvp experience just started turning down the negative path for me, I wasn’t having fun, the people I liked weren’t on. What was the point? We came back for the recent reset, and while fun it was disappointing to see everyone quit so quickly.

Overall I will miss Wurm Online, I spent about 10 years playing this game (with occasional breaks). I was a village elder, the owner and true wielder of the Sword of Magranon, wearer of the crown of might, keeper of Jorge, a Baron of Jenn-Kellon, a Mongolian Elder, the [Dawn of Glory], an advisor for several villages, a sheriff of Jenn-Kellon, someone who actually rode a dragon once (not far), slayer of dragons and kings, reaver of coasts, wielder of Frostmourne, Slayer of Uniques, a Mobster, a famous player in a magazine, an architect, a thief, a traitor, a King, a slayer of Champions, a diplomat, as a builder of kingdoms, I built the roads, I tore others up, I was a miner of ores, and a smelter of gold. I have been in more fights than I can count, dying many times, but getting many kills. I have fought in leather, and I have fought in drake, been trapped and been a part of traps. I was a timberman, and a friend, a fisherman, and an enemy. I have reached the top of the Mountain and I have reached the depths of hell. I have done almost everything you can over a 10+ years span, and I am finally ready to rest. If you encountered me, or I you, please post here.
