There are a lot of warning messages that a player can come across when doing day to day actions. This page is meant to be a basic, but not yet complete, list of all the warning messages in game that a player may come across.

If you come across a message that is not in the list please use this forum thread to report the message and a brief explanation of what happened when you came across the message.

Digging

  • The concrete would only flow away.
Occurs when trying to raise a rock tile that is greater than 40 slope. It only takes into consideration the 4 adjacent slope borders.
  • The frozen soil is too hard to dig effectively.
Occurs when there is tundra next to it.
  • The <item> would flow down into a <structure/fence>. You are not allowed to drop <item> on <structures/fences>
Occurs when trying to drop a dirt that is adjacent to a structure/fence in which the slope is more than 40.
  • The object nearby prevents digging further down.
Occurs when trying to dig down when a planted object, like a bulk storage bin or food storage bin, is on the tile.
  • The road would be too steep to traverse.
Occurs when trying to dig on a paved tile at a slope greater than 19.
  • The water is too deep and would only dissolve the concrete.
When using concrete to raise a tile below water the lowest height that the tile can be is 25.
  • The water is too deep to cultivate here.
Occurs when trying to cultivate a tile in which the northwest corner is not 0 dirts or more above the water table.
  • The water is too deep or too shallow to dig using that tool.
Occurs when trying to dredge from a cart or wagon between 2 and 6 dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep to pack the dirt here.
Occurs when trying to pack a tile in which the northwest corner is more than 0 dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep to pave here.
Occurs when trying to pave a tile in which the northwest corner is more than 0 dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep or too shallow to dig using that tool.
Occurs when trying to dig on a tile with a shovel that is more than 6 dirts below the water table.
  • You can't flatten at that depth.
Occurs when trying to flatten a tile in which is the involved tiles are 7 or more dirts below the water table.
  • You can't level at that depth.
Occurs when trying to level a tile in which the involved tiles are 7 or more dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep and would only dissolve the concrete.
Occurs when attempting to raise a rock tile with concrete in which the corner is more than 24 dirts below the water table.
  • You are not allowed to drop dirt there.
Cannot drop dirt on paved road when the corner is surrounded on all sides by trees or similar tiles.
  • You are not skilled enough to dig in such steep slopes.
Occurs when you are not skilled enough to dig on a slope. The max slope that you can dig is 3 times your digging skill.
  • You cannot dig in such terrain.
This message happens when the corner is surrounded by 3 or 4 tree or bush tiles.
This message will also occur when trying to lower floorboards through a dig action.
  • You hit rock.
All the dirt above the rock layer in this tile corner has been dug away.
  • You suddenly become very weak, and your arm muscles fail you. You just can not dig here it seems.
You are trying to dig within a planned house.
  • You can't figure out how to remove the stone. You must become a bit better at digging first.
You need 10 digging to remove pavement.
  • You need to be stronger to destroy pavement.
Body strength of 20 and a digging skill of 10 is required for destroying pavement.
  • You need to be stronger to dig on roads.
You need 20 body strength to dig on roads.
  • Your shovel fails to penetrate the earth no matter what you try. Weird.
You are trying to dig in an area protected by the GMs. Find a different spot.

Planning/Building

  • You can't build on water.
Occurs when trying to plan a house on a tile that is 1 or more dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep.
Occurs when trying to build a fence on a tile that is 1 or more dirts below the water table.
  • You cannot build here, there must be a gap around the building.
Occurs when trying to plan a house in a cave that does not have a buffer around it when the cave is against the deed border. Also can occur when trying to plan a house in a cave when the house is off deed.
See more: Cave Dwellings
  • You need to build in connection with a finished neighboring floor, roof or wall.
Occurs when trying to plan a roof or floor that is not adjacent to an already finished floor/roof/or lower wall. Finish the adjacent tiles first before you can plan this tile.

Farming/Planting

  • The ground is too moist here, so the <item> would rot.
Occurs when trying to plant crops on a tile that is 1 or more dirts below the water table.
Also could present itself with the message The water is too deep. You cannot sow that <item> there.
  • This type of crop can only grow in water of suitable depth
Occurs when trying to sow reed or rice that is not a suitable depth. Reed and Rice can be planted in a depth between 1 dirts and 4 dirts below the water table.
Can also present itself in the form of the message This type of crop can only grow in water of suitable depth.
  • The water is too deep to plant the <item>.
Occurs when trying to plant a crop on a tile in which the northwest corner of that tile is more than 0 dirts below the water table.
  • You are not skilled enough to build in such steep slopes.
Occurs when trying to build a fence on a tile border in which the slope is to high for your skill. The max slope you can build on is (3*√skill)+10.

Mining

  • The water is too deep to mine.
Occurs when trying to open a tunnel in which the northwest corner of the tile being mined is at or more than 12 dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep to mine.
Occurs when surface mining a tile in which the corner is more than 13 dirts below the water table.
  • The water is too deep to prospect.
Occurs when trying to prospect a tile in which the northwest corner is more than 13 dirts below the water table.
  • You are too unskilled to mine here.
Occurs when trying to mine a rock tile in which you are not skilled enough to mine. The max slope at which you can mine is 3x your mining skill.
  • The mountainside would risk crumbling. You can't open a hole here.
Occurs when attempting to tunnel into a rock that is greater than 270 slope.
  • You cannot reach the ceiling.
Occurs when trying to mine the cave ceiling that is more than 61 height away from the floor.
  • The ceiling is too close.
Occurs when using concrete to raise a floor tile that is less than 20 distance from the ceiling.
