Identity

Arkanor is a Jenn-Kellon player who resides in Woodscove on the Wild Server. He follows Vynora. Arkanor specializes in smithing, specifically Blacksmithing. His titles are (in order of receipt): Miner, Blacksmith, Trollslayer, Goldsmith. He tends to have a sarcastic sense of humor, possibly too sarcastic, and would ask that no one be offended and/or take him too seriously.

History

Ademar

Arkanor started Wurm during the first week of Gold 2, spending the first week as a nomad with no skill specialization and a very low foodbar. Fortunately, Surplusxmas invited him to join the newly formed village of Ademar, providing a stable base for Arkanor to 'get his footing'. As time passed he became the village blacksmith and weaponsmith, eventually being offered (and declining) a position as a Mayor. His favorite memories during this time were discovering the beauty of Wurm, whether mining iron ore in the Ademar cavern by the light of a lantern, making a moonlit journey to his farm (before Maincorpse and Cheater created the highway that cut through the middle of it), standing on the upper tier of the village and looking at Lake Ademar while the sun set, or pounding away at his forge while chatting to friends in /village. Eventually, he accepted a promotion to Elder, and remained in Ademar until 18 August 2007, when he elected to leave due to continuing inactivity among Ademar's citizens.

Jewelspar

Suiciding to NT, he applied and was accepted into Jewelspar as a trial citizen on 19 August 2007. Electing to live off-deed rather than in communal on-deed housing, he eventually created a walled compound with house, and over the course of several apathy-laden weeks replenished his supply of tools and miscellaneous items. Unfortunately the scourge of inactivity had followed him, laying waste the brave citizens of Jewelspar one by one. From the second week in September onward Arkanor, not being a cook, subsisted on raw meat. He did have the comfort of exploring the quickly encroaching forests and discovering ruined accomplishments of the once-promising Jewelspar citizenry. Eventually Oni paid a visit to Jewelspar, prompting Arkanor to cave into loneliness and boredom (and hunger). With a cart of worldly possessions, he departed Jewelspar on 7 October 2007.

Grimston

Accepting Oni's offer, Arkanor moved to Grimston, rafting his items south along the shoreline. After two months of living like a hobo due to not having a house on-deed, Arkanor was pleased to have a house, forge, and iron mine all in close proximity. Not to mention food. He spent a month in Grimston in comfort working on skills, but also in boredom. While Oni's trench and thorns provided amusement (and occasional death), the road up to the Tundra overlooked the sea, and the calls of the gulls could be heard. By the start of November the monotony of Home began to take its toll at long last, and something more was needed. Something... Wilder.

Woodscove - Jenn Kellon

Arkanor gave Oni the deed to his house on 9 November, left all his items behind, and set out West towards Wild on 10 November. Crossing south of the Black Light, he suicided to the Landing and walked from there to the site of what would become the first Size 20 village in Gold 2, Woodscove. What he did in Woodscove matters little, save to say that he helped build some of its road network and initially served as the town blacksmith. Arkanor eventually became an Elder of Woodscove, and found a stable village at last.

Old Woodscove was founded on approximately 10 November, and on 23 December was expanded by the mayor Dadd to Size 50, making it the largest village in Wurm Gold history. In mid-February, with the introduction of Mol-Rehan, it was decided to disband Woodscove and re-establish it as one of the first major Mol-Rehan cities. The following is a brief description of 'Old Woodscove', lest it perish to the ages. Old Woodscove's 'citadel', the original Size 20 double-walled area, was a two-tiered city. The lower tier was for citizen housing and the upper tier for farm space and public access buildings. Following the expansion, a significant portion of the northwest was walled off and work had begun on an external trench. An enormous natural depression had been refined by Crazybill into the three-tier deep Woodscove Arena, with a level sand floor, sheer slabbed sides, and an enormous mine for hide-and-seek or gladiator entrances. New citizens established numerous buildings in this walled area. Unfortunately, much of the expanded Size 50 area, particularly to the southeast, was left unused, as virgin forest or shadowed valley. The Woodscove Petting Zoo included numerous champion animals, such as Champion Mountain Lions, Brown Bears, Black Bears, Deer, Dogs, Wolves, and Scorpions.

Woodscove - Mol Rehan

It was at this point that Arkanor's story came to its close for some time. Prior to the move, his motivation to play Wurm had declined for a number of reasons. The water no longer held its shimmer, the monotony of shaping iron no longer enticed, and many other things. He moved to Gold Coast with the other remaining citizens, preparing to head to a prospective deed site, but an encounter with bears and a champion scorpion left him dead with all his items and almost a gold in cash lost. While these were recovered by village mates, by the time Arkanor logged in several days later the items had been 'redistributed', leaving him with nothing. Many of his friends had left Wurm, lost to time and space. The spark of fun had not merely guttered, it had gone out. Arkanor never built a house in New Woodscove. He logged in occasionally to observe the village's progress. Features he observed of New Woodscove included the acropolis-like elevated walled village center (and the original site of habitation), the Russian Doll-like token houses, the successful walling of the entire Size 50 deed with no space outside the walls, and Crazybill's initial work on the dirt wall fortifications.

From mid February to mid May, the name and banner of Arkanor lay in the dust, abandoned.

On May 16, Arkanor on a whim returned to Wurm, reactivating his subscription and arriving in a village he did not recognize, with a sad handful of familiar faces but many new fellow citizens. He is currently engaged in (again) reconstituting his supply of tools and raw materials.
