Preface

In the same vein as my Farming guide, this guide is intended to be helpful to people learning to be a priest for the first time.

Starting Out

It is extremely important to research the various restrictions of each type of priest before you decide to create a priest character.

It is also important to realise that there is not a great deal of point in creating a basic character at the start, though it is also not impossible to go that way.

The main reason for that is that the Soul characteristics are extremely important to a priest and that they tend to reach the 20 point cap on a basic account very quickly.

As a result, it is probably most efficient to start with a premium character for your priest.

This guide assumes that you will have a premium character.

Note: For a Priest of Libila you must have a premium character to start with.

Followers

You need to become a Follower before you can become a Priest and you need to have 1.5+ Body to become any sort of Follower. You also need 1.0+ Alignment to become a Follower of Fo, Magranon or Vynora.

Champions

If you later want to become a Champion you will need to bear in mind that:

  • Priests of Libila and Magranon need 25 soul strength to become a champion.
  • Priests of Vynora and Fo need 23 soul depth to become a champion.

Preparation

Before you start your priest it will be helpful to have a few things ready:

All Priests

Fo & Vynora

Libila & Magranon

Important Skills

The skills below are important because they raise the important characteristics for the various types of priest.

Because the lower levels in these skills seem to give the fastest increase to the characteristics. I would suggest raising as many of these to 20 as possible before you become a priest.

All Priests

Channeling, Praying, Taming (not Libila)

Fo & Vynora

Soul Depth based skills are most important though, I assume, that all Soul raising skills are useful.

Botanizing, Farming, First Aid, Fishing, Foraging, Forestry, Gardening, Hot food cooking, Pottery, Tracking

Libila & Magranon

Soul Strength based skills are most important though, I assume, that all Soul raising skills are useful.

Masonry, Mining, Paving, Tailoring

Being a Follower

You need to raise your Faith to 30 before you can change from Follower to Priest.

The fastest way to do this is to pray 5 times daily at intervals of at least 20 minutes. Praying more often will not affect your Faith but will help to raise your Sould characteristics.

While you are waiting on your Faith to rise, your best use of your time is to concentrate on the appropriate skills listed above.

Bear in mind that Priests are severely limited in what they can do so you may want to postpone becoming a Priest until your Soul Strength is 25 or your Soul Depth is 23 if you think that you may want to become a Champion later.

Becoming A Priest

Note: Priests of Libila should find it much easier to get to the Black Light so the following is for White Light priests only.

When are ready to become a priest (at least 30 Faith and enough points in the appropriate Soul characteristic) you will need to travel to Wild to be initiated at the Altar of Three.

When you are ready to do so it is important to make sure that you have at least two prayers left for that day (see later).

From Jenn Kellon you need to travel west to reach Wild and from Mol Rehan you need to travel East to reach Wild.

Either way, the fastest way to get to the White Light (Altar of Three) is to cross over to the Wild server and then /suicide, choosing your rebirth point as the Altar of Three.

After you actually become a priest, by clicking on the correct deity, you should pray at the altar (thus the reason for keeping prayers available). After you pray, you should see a new purple bar appear below your food and water bars.

Having converted to become a priest of the god of your choice you may then /suicide back to the home town of your kingdom in Wild and, from there, travel back to Jenn Kellon or Mol Rehan if you do not already live on Wild.

If you choose not to /suicide, finding your way to the White Light overland is your own task. In that case, the Maps page may be useful to you.

Being a Priest

The most important things to do are to Pray regularly and to raise your Channeling skill.

Channeling is raised by casting spells and benefits from sleep bonus. The fastest way to raise Channeling is to have a large supply of valuable items to Sacrifice, especially while you have sleep bonus.

Farming (not Libila) and making Rope is one way for priests to get high value items to sacrifice. It is certainly going to be faster to have village support to make you other high value items, such as jewellery, for you to sacrifice.

Prospective Champions

If you intend to become a Champion, then, as well as the requirements mentioned above, it is advisable to first raise at least Channeling to 30 (and perhaps all religious skills) since these will all be immediately boosted by +50 to a maximum value of 80.

Be aware that a champion may not leave Wild.
