Certain [[item]]s carry the '''signature''' of their creator or the person who finished it if the item is of at least 20 [[quality|QL]]. Higher QL has a tendency toward giving a clearer signature. Unclear signatures have some letters of the name replaced by a dot. For example, '''[[User:Notch|Notch]]''' could be '''.o..h'''.
Following a partial database error on July 16, 2012, signatures on all items on the Independence and Chaos servers were lost. Holding any such unsigned item in your inventory and examining it will permanently sign the item in your name (''Since its creator tag has faded, you decide to keep history alive by scratching your name on it. Afterwards you proudly read 'Playername'.'')
