*An abutment is a structure made from [[stone bricks]] and [[mortar]] built to support the lateral pressure of an arch or span of a [[brick bridge]]. It is the section found at each end of the bridge.
*An abutment can be made out of for any type of brickbridge: marble, pottery, rendered, rounded stone, sandstone, slate, or stone bricksbrick.
