tested by draugr and found to be useless.

Smells ores and rock depth. Doesn't work underground. Worked on dirt of depth 130 but not depth 230. The actual maximum is somewhere in between. Only detects ores on the tile you are standing on. If there is no ore there, displays the message "Hmm it seems to be rock."
