Main / Skills / Foraging
Foraging is the skill used in when searching a grass tile for berries, and some herbs, vegetables and nutsnuts. Eating this food directly (raw and uncooked) will solve starvation, but it is more nutritional when used in cooking. It is believed that a higher foraging skill increases the likelihood of finding something.
Method
* Right-click a grass tile
* Select "Nature > Forage".
* Onion
|}
Sometimes you may get a botanizing item even when foraging.
Messages
; "This area looks picked clean." : There is nothing to be found on the tile.
; "You find nothing edible." : You failed to find anything on the tile (because of low skill?).
Tips
* A grass tile can be foraged and botanized every 24 real hours. It is not a verified fact, but it is believed that the 24-hour timer on a tile is triggered upon the by an attempt, and not when/if by an actual item is actually being found. Therefore if nothing is found, try another tile instead of repeatedly trying the same one. If there is nothing to be found on a tile, you get the message "This area looks picked clean".* Tiles that are not foraged or botanized for long periods of time (a week or longer) have a higher chance of getting giving something than tiles that are checked 24 to 36 hours apart.* It also seems that there is a higher chance of getting something if the tile has flowers on it.
* It is possible to both forage and botanize on the same tile as these actions are on seperate timers.
* It also seems that there is a higher chance of getting something if a grass tile with flowers on it is foraged or botanized.
