Description
A forge is a masonry furnace used for smelting metal ore, heating items, smithing, and hardening items such as pottery and key moulds.
Creation
- The unfinished forge will drop in front of you on the ground.
- Right-click the unfinished forge with another clay or brick activated and select Continue building.
- Subsequent clay can be taken from a single large lump piece by piece. However, the lump will become progressively more damaged if you fail to attach it.
- A rendered forge requires 1 extra clay to build.
Usage
- Used for smelting metal ore into lumps.
- Used for heating items.
- Used for hardening items such as pottery and key moulds.
- Can be used for cooking, though forges add 10 difficulty to the recipe being cooked.
- To light the forge, activate a steel and flint while carrying kindling, right-click the forge, and select Light.
- To fuel the forge, activate any fuel item, right-click the forge, and select Burn.
- Fuel can also be placed inside the forge, allowing fire damage to burn it.
Burn time
- The quality and rarity of a forge affects both how long it stays lit and how long it takes to heat items.
- A 74 quality forge will burn for roughly 2 hours and 40 minutes with 20 kg of fuel.
- A 60 quality forge will burn for about 30 minutes with 1 kindling, which is enough time to allow cleaning for ash.
Notes
- Only 20 kg of fuel is needed at a time; any more is unnecessary.
- The QL of fuel does not seem to affect burning time.
- Put items in cauldrons or backpacks inside the forge to allow it to hold more items.
- A forge will hold 8 cauldrons.
- A forge will hold at most 28 ore.
- Items that can be burned, such as tar or wooden items, will take damage in forges once they are almost searing hot.
- If the burned item can be repaired, it will lose QL but show no damage.
- Items can be placed on top of the forge, if there is enough room, and will be heated if the forge is hot.
- Wooden or otherwise flammable items placed on the forge will be burned.
- Any fuel source can be burned in the forge for fuel.
- Can be loaded with a wagon or a large cart runed with a zinc rune of Magranon.
- The forge takes up a little more space than 3 large crates.
- Planted forges will not take damage on deeds.
- Can be cleaned of ash with an activated shovel.
