Wurmpedia talk:Community portal
for some reason I cant get the same URL from the moi'coh (http://www.wurmonline.com/wiki/index.php/Moi%27Coh) page to link to the forums properly. Somehting about an extra character and an ampersand?

- I'm proposing to turn this page into main portal for wiki projects, management, planning, etc. The link list is redundant with settlement pages (which is where people would go to get the links anyhow) and the rest will be merged in. - Dashiva 04:50, 5 September 2007 (CDT)
- No objections after two weeks, so I'll probably get started on this by the weekend. - Dashiva 18:10, 19 September 2007 (CDT)
- I have noticed that entries labeled: Item:Potion, do not appear in the ingame wiki. I think the issue is the punctuation of the entry. I think it should look like Item: Potion.I believe for the wiki to understand it properly there needs to be a space after the colon (:). If this is true, we have a lot of editing to do. --silverhammers
- There's no page Item:Potion at the moment (notice it's a red link), only Potion. It will appear as expected once someone writes it. - Dashiva 19:52, 10 March 2009 (CDT)
Languages
I suggest we scrap the non-English languages section of the wiki, there are too few contributors to keep those up to date. We're having enough trouble with keeping the English version up to date --Manny 08:21, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Merging guides and removing names
The guides are getting outdated and people are afraid to touch them because they are somebody elses work. I propose a change: Names are removed from guides unless they externally linked guides, and guides are merged with their associated pages. This way the guides are readily available, obvious, and in the true spirit of a wiki they are communal knowledge. --Sparkky 21:46, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Outstanding Pages
We have over 2,000 pages referred to but not yet created, many of which are players or settlements. This alone is making it difficult to see where we have genuine holes in the wiki. I will create a simple default for both explaining why the page is not there and what can or should be done to properly create it. The missing pages will then be added as redirects onto the default. After this has been done hopefully the wanted pages can be reviewed again and more progress made. --Gaeron 07:58, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- A good idea, searching through the wanted pages list as is can be a bit of a pain. I'm guessing there's no way to automate this process to save current and future work? Also, where does this stand under the rules regarding the creation of player pages? I'd like to help out, but don't wish to be banned if you have been given special dispensation. - As far as I know there isn't any way to automate this sadly and it will need regular sweeps once done to keep the wanted pages space clean but it will be far easier after this initial burst. This is by dispensation but also because I am not actually creating any content against player names. All I'm doing is redirecting an empty link to a suggestion. Every single page I'm adding is identical, the same redirect, the same comment. Once I've done this initial player run I'll repeat it for settlements and then start trying to address the wanted files, i.e. pictures from the game. Pictures is something that other people can do but they do need to be trusted enough to be granted the uploader status. If someone could create the pictures and make them available then I could do the actual uploads which would also help save time. As of writing this the wanted page list has dropped from 2124 to 1904 so a solid start. I don't know what to do about the foreign language ones though. --Gaeron 14:40, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oddly enough, I just noticed this conversational thread today. I have been working to reduce the Special Pages backload where I could, and have made substantial progress. I tackled the Wanted Pages list, and have reduced the number from about 1,050 to 239 as of this moment. Many of these were simply adding the redirects for unlisted players and settlements of the type Gaeron began previously. One settlement had 53 redlinks by itself. Most of the remainder included cross listing JPG and PNG files in the template coding. I just had to hard code the actual file names into each pages template reference to delist these misdirects.
- We should have less than 20 true redlinks when this process is done. There are a few file images in need, and several pages are redlinked although they actually exist. I expect the database has an erroneous data indicator which causes these to show up. I plan on posting a request for these to be addressed when they become more obvious in the listing.--Thyrh (talk) 10:45, 2 June 2012 (CDT)----
