Should articles in this category use templates or not, since the the client doesn't parse them? --Lain Iwakura 04:07, 21 December 2006 (CST)
- Originally the pages were supposed to be plain text, but that ideal has long since been abandoned. The current system seems to be "as long as the raw wikitext is legible, use whatever you want". - Dashiva 04:45, 21 December 2006 (CST)
If Redirects were added to the client wiki parser, should we merge ingame help section?
I added a suggestion to let the client be able to parse the #REDIRECT command [1]. If this was added, we could merge this ingame help section with the rest of the Wiki.(ex. set item:hammer page to "#redirect [[Hammer]]") I don't know about everyone else, but I was never that fond of having 2 separate articles on everything. I'd like to know others opinions about merging the sections if Redirects were added to the client. - Jbobj 18:44, 26 January 2007 (CST)
- The ingame help pages exist primarily because the client doesn't support proper HTML rendering. If we were to redirect everything, we would have to add plaintext summaries to pretty much all the pages, and remove them when proper rendering is in place. I don't have any strong opinion about either side personally. - Dashiva 21:55, 26 January 2007 (CST)
- I'm not fond of the double pages either, but there needs to be a lot more support of either wiki or html before merging them IMO. Manny 02:33, 27 January 2007 (CST)
Yup, the client would need extensive coding work to fully support wiki pages, perhaps Notch would have to port an existing open-source renderer such as Gecko or KDE's HTML Kpart from C/C++ to Java... this probably won't happen since animation [should] be/is his biggest priority IMO. --Lain Iwakura 11:27, 27 January 2007 (CST)
