*Another option (but more complicated and dangerous due to monsters and the possibility of upsetting residents) is: Go to an area that is not populated, or areas infested with unwanted tree types (i.e. fruit trees), and ask any locals before cutting down the trees; this helps to avoid angering people and the sharp pointy things they will stick into you ([[Wild]] servers).
*An additional option is to take a [[log]], split it into 6 planks [[plank]]s with a [[saw]], then take each plank and turn it into 8 shingles [[wood shingle]]s with the saw. The planks grant [[Carpentry ]] experience and the shingles grant [[Woodcutting]]. From a single 24 kg log you end up making 48 Woodcuttingxp granting items.
