* See [[:Category:Steel products|steel products]] for items made specifically from steel.
The quality of the charcoal determines the success% chance of making steel, while the quality of the [[iron lump]] determines the maximum quality of the finished steel lump. It would be wise to not risk wasting high quality iron on poor charcoal unless you have a lot of it.

Description

A steel lump is a metal lump created through metallurgy by combining glowing hot charcoal with an iron lump.

Tools made from steel take 20% less damage from use than similar quality iron versions.

Creation

  • A minimum of 0.20 kg of both charcoal and iron lump is needed for creation.
  • Regardless of how large either material is, only 0.20 kg of each is used on a successful attempt.
  • A successful attempt consumes 0.20 kg of charcoal and 0.20 kg of iron, resulting in a 0.40 kg steel lump.
  • A failed attempt decreases both the charcoal and iron lump weight by 0.04 kg.
  • The quality of the charcoal affects the success chance and the likelihood that the steel lump will be high quality.
  • The quality of the iron lump caps the quality of the steel lump.
  • Only the charcoal needs to be glowing hot.
  • Any enchantments should be cast on the charcoal.
